Background
MJB Properties Site, also known as MJB North Dock (Site), is a waterfront Site in Anacortes that is situated to the south, adjacent to the Former Scott Paper Mill site. The Site originally consisted of a shingle mill and single-family residences on the North Dock Area as far back as the early 1900’s.
Status
A property investigation was conducted on the Site in 2011 consisting of soil sampling of test pits and monitoring well installation and sampling. Based on soil results, targeted excavation of mercury, cadmium, and carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons contaminated soils on the Site occurred on July 9, 2013. Approximately 52.5 cubic yards were excavated and transported off-site for disposal.
A No Further Action letter was issued to the Site on May 21, 2015.
Currently the two sites (North Dock area and Scott Paper Mill consent decree area) are being developed.
