Station 18M060 Description
Ennis Creek is the smallest of the snow fed streams on the North Olympic Peninsula. The watershed encompasses approximately 10.5 square miles, with the headwaters located at approximately 6,000 feet in elevation near Klahane Ridge in the Olympic National Park. Considered the healthiest of the Port Angeles urban streams, Ennis Creek is over 8.5 miles in length and supports populations of coho salmon, steelhead, and cutthroat trout. Ennis Creek is generally steep and confined. In its upper reaches, cobble and large gravel, with intermittent outcrops of bedrock dominate the channel bed. The lower portion of the creek is channelized and constrained between the former Rayonier Mill site and the Port Angeles wastewater treatment plant. The mill is currently being dismantled and cleanup of the site is underway.
