Site Description
The Site operated as a scrap metal and salvage facility. The Site is adjacent to the Manhole 34 site, but is not within the boundary of the site.
In August 1992, one 1,000-gallon diesel and one 500-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks were removed. Confirmatory sampling from stained areas of the excavation showed that petroleum contamination exceeded the soil MTCA levels. One water sample from the excavation area exceeded the MTCA cleanup levels for petroleum contamination. Excavation was discontinued when groundwater was encountered. Soil contamination exceeding the MTCA cleanup levels remains onsite.
