Site Description
The Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club is an active shooting range. It has operated on the 35 acre property since the 1940’s. The facility currently contains a shotgun range, including seven trap fields, and a 100-yard combination rifle and pistol range.
The Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club has a small un-named creek flowing across the property. In 2002, The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD) conducted an initial investigation. They found water samples with lead above the state cleanup level in the creek. Ecology sampled in 2008 and found similar results. The un-named creek flows into North Creek which is a salmon-bearing stream. North Creek continues to flow through the city of Gig Harbor and into Puget Sound.
