Facility Site ID: 13175868
Cleanup Site ID: 4662

The site is the location of an aircraft parts machining facility.

Waste cutting oil, which is an emulsion of lubricating oil and water, is used for cooling purposes, and then discharged to a temporary storage. The temporary storage is then pumped to an evaporator system which then separates the oil and water for eventual recovery. Discovery of the leaking supply pipe and evidence of overflow of the adjacent underground receiving tank triggered removal of petroleum contaminated soil and replacement of the holding tank system. Impacted soil was excavated and transported to the Rocky Top remediation site.

Based upon cleanup activities conducted at the site, Ecology has determined the site is no longer a threat to human health and the environment. Ecology made a no further action determination in April 2018.
