Jim,
Hope all is well.
Attached is a copy of our UV replacement predesign report for SPSD for your review. I can run through the highlights during our group call next Thurs, but overall this provides the basis for reactor selection, sizing, and the preliminary layout and design.
I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have as you review.
Thanks,
Jeffrey Zahller, PE, CDT

| 1/14/2020 | Phone Call | James Leier | A phone conference was held, with Stevens Pass Sewer District (Scott O'Brien; Tom Maher), Ecology (Jim Leier, Caleb Bos, Keith Primm) , and HDR Consultant's Jeff Zahler and Andrew Staples.
Jeff Zahler discussed efforts to finalize contracts to purchase a new back-up generator and treatment plant valve replacements.
Jeff said S.P.S.D. will be doing extra wastewater sampling (beyond that required by permit). The sampling will be a series of grabs and composite samples, in an effort to better understand the wastewater variability. The sampling data will be used in modeling to help inform needs for better wastewater treatment.
A third key item: Andrew is working on a purchasing manual for the District. The manual will provide better accounting controls for the District's financing.

| 10/10/2018 | Phone Call | Caleb Bos | Received a call from Scott O'Brian, SPSD lead operator, at 1045 on October 10, 2018. He called to inform ecology that the most recent round of testing of effluent from the Stevens Pass POTW indicated that hydrocarbons had made it past the membrane filters.
Scott believes that the membrane filters have failed, allowing hydrocarbons into the effluent. The current plan to clean out the filter basins and replace the filters is still in effect.
Effluent testing will continue. |
| 10/9/2018 | Phone Call | Caleb Bos | A teleconference was held with Department of Ecology, HDR, and SPSD on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Attendees included:
WA DOE: Jim Leier, Keith Primm, Caleb Bos
SPSD: Scott O'Brian, David Sparks
HDR: Jeff Zahller
The meet was called to discuss cleanup efforts being enacted at Stevens Pass. The source of hydrocarbon contamination at the summit pump station has been isolated from the sewer system and many of the sewer lines have been cleaned out. New membrane filters will be installed at the POTW in early November. Sampling will continue into the future. |
