Description Glacier Northwest, a subsidiary of Lone Star Northwest, Inc. has applied for a permit to increase its rate of gravel extraction from an existing mine located on the eastern shore of Maury Island in Puget Sound. The legislation commissioning the Maury Island mine impact studies specified that the study consider impacts to the nearshore environment. For this reason, the Department of Ecology included a nearshore study element in the mine impact study.
