Description The Walla Walla River tributaries have been selected for a temperature Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) study as required by the federal Clean Water Act. Data gathered at the Washington State Department of Ecology’s ambient monitoring stations were the basis for placing three stream segments on the 1998 303(d) list of impaired waterbodies. Additional studies by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Columbia Conservation District, and the Army Corps of Engineers show that high temperatures are prevalent throughout the basin.
