Description This Focus sheet describes the process used in Washington to determine natural resource damage from oil spills. It also describes the function of the Natural Resource Damage Assessment Committee during and after spills, and the factors the committee considers in determining the dollar value assessed for damages. It explains how money from damage assessments is deposited in the Coastal Protection Fund, and how the money can be spent. Relates to WAC 173-183.
