Description | Endosulfan and dieldrin were monitored in Wide Hollow Creek, a Yakima River tributary, from July 2005 through June 2006. Wide Hollow Creek is on the 303(d) water quality limited list for historically exceeding (not meeting) aquatic life and/or human health water quality criteria for these pesticides. Endosulfan is applied to local orchards. Dieldrin is a persistent legacy chemical, banned in the 1980s. Results showed endosulfan no longer qualifies for 303(d) listing. Dieldrin, however, consistently exceeded human health criteria and should therefore remain listed. Data were also obtained on endosulfan sulfate and aldrin. | ||||
