Description This report contains the results of an on-site inspection performed on May 25, 2007, and a
subsequent safety evaluation of the Beehive Reservoir Dams performed by the Dam Safety Office of the Department of Ecology.

Beehive Reservoir is located about nine miles southwest of Wenatchee, Washington on a tributary of Squilchuck Creek. The facility is owned and operated by the Beehive Irrigation District and is used to store water for irrigation. The facility consists of a 38-foot-high earthfill main dam, a 10-foot-high earthfill saddle dam, a drop inlet principal spillway, an open channel emergency spillway, and a low level outlet conduit with an upstream glide gate.

Based on observations made during this inspection, the Beehive Reservoir Main Dam and Saddle Dam appeared to be in good condition, and the project meets current engineering standards for dam design and construction. Only the following minor maintenance deficiencies were found which will need attention.

• The wood deck on top of the drop inlet spillway structure is loose, sags at the upstream end, and needs to be repaired.

• The trees downstream from the main dam that blew down in last winter’s wind storm have
left voids which are collecting seepage and runoff. The tree root balls should be removed
and the voids filled in with compacted earth material.

• Brush and trees growing on the downstream face and rock toe areas need to be removed.
Fallen trees should also be removed from the emergency spillway.
