Description | During 2007-08, Potholes Reservoir and major inlet wasteways were screened for dieldrin, other chlorinated pesticides, and PCBs in fish, water, and sediments. Dieldrin was the focus of the study. Contaminant concentrations in fish tissue varied widely depending on fish species, size, and lipid content. Dieldrin, total PCBs, and 4,4’-DDE did not meet EPA National Toxics Rule human health criteria for consumption of fish. Dieldrin was detected in surface water only during the non-irrigation season (fall). Dieldrin and other contaminants in surface water met water quality criteria. Dieldrin was not detected in surface sediments; therefore, dieldrin in sediment met Washington State sediment quality guidelines. |
