Description Water samples were collected and analyzed from Lake Chelan in 2007 to monitor a preventive Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for total phosphorus. The TMDL criterion was met (not exceeded) for this monitoring. Weak decreasing trends were found in total phosphorus concentrations from 1987 to 2007. Good water quality was indicated by low chlorophyll-a concentrations and high water transparency. Phosphorus was the limiting nutrient in the lake based on nitrogen-to-phosphorus ratios and the trophic state index (TSI).
