| Description | Mercury levels were measured in 50 individual bass and 27 fish composites during the sixth year (2010) of a long-term monitoring program to assess mercury levels in fish tissues across Washington state. Mercury concentrations in individual bass ranged from 49.3 to 483 ppb. All fish tissue samples met the Washington State water quality standard for mercury of 770 ppb. Statistical test results comparing mercury levels in bass collected in 2005 and 2010 showed no significant differences at four of the five waterbodies evaluated. A significant difference was found at Liberty Lake, where the estimated mercury mean was 5.7% higher in 2010. |
