Author(s) Sargeant, D.
Description Ecology’s standard operating procedure for sampling of pesticides in water calls for the use of a U.S. Geological Survey DH-81 depth-integrating sampler in water between one and four feet deep. In 2011, a side-by-side comparison study of two sampling methods was conducted to evaluate the need to collect depth-integrated samples. The two methods were (1) DH-81 depth-integrating sampler and (2) grab sampling using a handheld sample jar.

Results showed no significant difference between the two sampling methods for the three sites sampled. Recommendations for these sites include using grab sampling technique for sampling water depths of one to four feet deep.
