Description Black Creek is located in central Grays Harbor County, Water Resource Inventory Area 22. The creek is on Washington State’s list of impaired waterbodies (303(d) list) for temperature. Data collected by the Department of Ecology in 1990, after an adjacent area was clearcut, found water temperatures exceeded the previous water quality standard of 18°C. Continuous temperature monitoring from July through August 2010 found that both the upstream and the downstream sites met the 7-day average daily maximum temperature not to exceed 16°C, which is the current water quality criterion to protect core summer Salmonid habitat.
