Description Cities and Counties responsible for sewage collection systems must locate the businesses that discharge non-domestic wastewater to their system (Industrial Users or IUs). Federal regulations require such surveys to locate the IUs which need to be controlled to protect the POTW. Ecology developed this guidance manual since EPA has not published a manual on how to conduct these surveys. It includes a seven step process and sample forms for doing an IU Survey. It discusses how to locate IUs, do the survey, tabulate and review responses, follow up, maintain records, and compile the results. Whether you run a pretreatment programs or just have to satisfy your NPDES permit, this manual should give you the tools to do a good IU survey
