Description In 2006 Ecology surveyed sediment quality in the embayments along the southern Strait of Georgia. The study characterized region-wide sediment quality and determined whether sediment quality had changed since a similar survey in 1997. Measurements of sediment chemistry, toxicity, and invertebrate community structure at 40 randomly selected stations indicated that:
*Overall, chemical contamination declined.
*Sediment toxicity results were mixed, with little net change.
*Benthic invertebrate community health worsened significantly.
*High sediment quality decreased region-wide, and intermediate sediment quality increased.

Appendices B through I are available in the data supplement file linked above.
