Description | Ecology is proposing to amend the Preassessment Screening and Oil Spill Compensation Schedule Regulations (Chapter 173-183 WAC) to implement Chapter 122, 2011 Laws (ESHB 1186). This rulemaking will: •Change the title of the rule. •Incorporate new multipliers to allow compensation from oil spills of 1,000 gallons or more to fall between a range of $3 and $300 per gallon of oil spilled. •Provides definitions of non-persistent and persistent oil. •Standardizes and codifies the methods for obtaining recovery credit which provides incentive to spillers for their early on-water recovery actions. This will be done by incorporating previous NRDA committee guidance into rule. We anticipate adoption of the rule amendment no sooner that December 23, 2012. |
