Description This fact sheet explains how Ecology responded to public comments on the draft Interim Action Plan for the Tacoma Smelter Plume. The Interim Action Plan is now final. It explains how Ecology will manage risk and clean up arsenic and lead contamination. Funding for this work comes from a $94 million settlement with Asarco. The comment period ran from October 20 through December 20, 2011. Ecology used the 55 written comments to finalize the plan and begin work on a yard cleanup program.
