Description This report presents 2012 results of a multi-year study to characterize pesticide concentrations in salmon-bearing surface waters. Monitoring occurred in six basins: two urban (Thornton Creek in the Cedar-Sammamish and Longfellow Creek in the Green-Duwamish) and four agricultural (lower Skagit-Samish, lower Yakima, Wenatchee, and Entiat).

During 2012, there were a total of 1,095 detections of 58 pesticides or pesticide-related compounds for all 15 sites. Pesticides detected above a pesticide criterion or standard include: metolachlor and 2,4-D (herbicides); bifenthrin, chlorpyrifos, DDT, diazinon, endosulfan, and malathion (insecticides); and endosulfan sulfate and DDT degradates (insecticide degradates).

After the 2014 monitoring season, an intensive triennial review of pesticide results will be conducted in 2015.
