Description In 2011, the Department of Ecology (Ecology) conducted post TMDL fecal coliform (FC) bacteria monitoring in the Gibbons Creek watershed to determine whether FC levels have been reduced. Reductions in FC concentrations were observed at all monitoring stations in the watershed. These reductions were found to be statistically significant at sampling stations GC1 (Gibbons Creek) and GC2 (Campen Creek). In addition, the summer and winter geometric means were reduced by 72% and 78%, respectively, at GC1 when compared to total maximum daily load (TMDL) target estimates. Despite these reductions, Gibbons and Campen Creeks continue to exceed (not meet) one or both of the water quality criteria for FC, although substantial progress has been made.
