| Description | This report summarizes the primary results of a 2011 survey of sediment quality in South Puget Sound. The survey was conducted as part of the Puget Sound Ecosystem Monitoring Program (previously called the Puget Sound Assessment and Monitoring Program). Sediment chemistry, toxicity, and sediment-dwelling invertebrate community structure were measured at 55 stations. The Sediment Quality Triad Index was calculated for each station and used to estimate the spatial extent of sediment quality categories throughout the region. Results are compared to those from a previous survey in the same area, with the same variables and methods, conducted in 1999. Detailed results, supporting information, methods documents, and data to accompany the report are given on Ecology's Marine Sediment Monitoring website (see Web Page below). |
