Description In 2013, the Department of Ecology (Ecology) conducted a study to assess compliance with Washington State’s Children’s Safe Products Act legislation. Ecology purchased 226 children’s toys and products subject to Tier 3 level reporting from 12 Washington retailers. Thirty-five samples were sent to the laboratory for analysis of metal analytes based on X-ray fluorescence screenings, and 40 samples were sent to the laboratory for analysis of phthalates. This report summarizes laboratory analysis results from the study.
