Description The Department of Ecology is collaborating with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) to develop a coupled hydrodynamic and water quality model. The results will help evaluate the relative influences of various factors, including human nutrient loads, on dissolved oxygen in the Salish Sea. This report summarizes initial hydrodynamic model development and calibration. The FVCOM model uses tides, river inflows, and meteorological forcing to simulate tidal circulation, temperature, and salinity throughout Puget Sound and the Straits.

The report was prepared by PNNL for the Washington State Department of Ecology.
