Description The use of mercury in appliances was virtually eliminated in 2000, but many appliances that pre-date this change are still in use today. When older appliances are replaced, they often end up at the scrap metal recycler. Mercury contained in the appliance can find its way into our environment and then into our food. This publication has information to help keep mercury from these older appliances out of the environment.
