Description This survey used a combination of physical measurements – total organic carbon, total volatile solids, and grain size – as well as qualitative observations – field descriptions, Float Test, underwater video, and digital photos – to screen for the presence of woody debris in the subtidal area of Bellingham Bay.

Results show evidence of wood waste in the depositional areas around the mouth of the Nooksack River coming from the river and anthropogenic sources. Video coverage showed a patchy coverage of suspected woody and organic debris. Sediment samples showed higher levels of TOC/TVS in somewhat of a cluster pattern within two areas on the river delta. Woody slivers and pieces observed in sediment samples were documented in field notes and confirmed during the Float Test.
