Description Sediment concentrations of 119 personal care products and pharmaceuticals and 13 perflouroalkyl substances have been measured in four urban bays and ten long-term monitoring stations in Puget Sound. While many of the parameters tested (1/3 of all PPCPs and 1/2 of all PFASs) were detected, over 97% of the total results were undetected. Diphenhydramine, triclocarban, triamterene, and perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) occurred most frequently, with highest concentrations and greatest spatial coverage. Occurrence and concentrations were generally greatest near heads of each bay and in deeper, likely depositional areas. Unique chemical signatures were observed in each urban bay.
This poster was presented at the 2018 Society of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology national meeting, November 4-8, 2018, in Sacramento, California.
