Description Fact sheet for water quality standards updates.

These standards designate uses, such as swimming and fishing for each waterbody in the State. To protect the designated uses, the water quality standards also set limits (criteria) on pollution in our lakes, rivers, and marine waters to determine the health of the water and protect the designated uses.
