Description | The Aquatic Weeds Management Fund (AWMF) provides financial and technical assistance to local and state governments, tribes, and special purpose districts to reduce the propagation of freshwater aquatic invasive plants and to manage the problems these invasive plants cause. An annual three-dollar license fee assessed to the owners of boat trailers provides funding for pass-through grants that address invasive plant control and abatement. This Program provides grants for the following: * Activities intended to prevent, reduce, or manage excessive growth of freshwater, aquatic invasive plants. * Development of public education programs relating to the management of freshwater aquatic invasive plants. * Demonstration or pilot projects (applied research), determined on a case-by-case basis through the competitive program submission. |
