Description These guidelines explain how to obtain, maintain, and withdraw a Certificate of Designation in accordance with WAC 173-303-075. When issued, this certificate provides waste generators certainty on their waste designations by establishing their solid waste’s designation status.

Applying for and renewing certificates of designation is entirely voluntary. Waste generators aren’t required to obtain certificates.
