Author(s) Washington Department of Ecology; Greene Economics
Description Washington’s “Organic Management Laws” (OML) establish a comprehensive plan of action for organic materials management. House Bill (HB) 2301, Section 401, required a study addressing the status of produce sticker technologies. This report is a result of that directive. The findings of this study will be used by the State of Washington, Department of Ecology (Ecology), in consultation with the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA), to compile a summary report to the legislature that will address compostability, toxicity, cost, printability, product performance, legal barriers, production logistics, and impacts of alternative PLU stickers to farmers, composters, and other key industry stakeholders.
