Author(s) Anchor QEA, Aspect a Geosyntec Company, with data provided by The Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation
Description The purpose of this analysis was to further evaluate the feasibility of making larger-scale physical alterations to Skookumchuck Dam or the possibility of constructing additional related infrastructure that could benefit flood damage reduction and/or aquatic species benefits. This study is an important opportunity to integrate both types of benefits, and the Chehalis Basin Board would like to engage with stakeholders to understand if the dam could play a role in the overall Chehalis Basin Strategy. Any proposed major changes to the dam or its operations would need to be agreed to by TransAlta (dam owner), the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) under the auspices of their fish and wildlife agreement for the dam, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) under the Exemption from Licensing for the dam1.
