| Description | This report summarizes the results of groundwater testing done in April and October 2023 at the Shelton Laundry and Cleaners site (the site) in Shelton, WA. The shallow groundwater at the site is contaminated with chlorinated volatile organic compounds (cVOCs), including tetrachloroethene (PCE) and its breakdown products. The contaminant source likely came from a solvent spill outside the dry cleaner’s building in 1993. Groundwater samples were collected from four shallow monitoring wells at the site in April and October 2023. PCE concentrations were found in higher amounts than the cleanup standard of 5 µg/L in samples from well 4W, with 209 µg/L in April and 6.61 µg/L in October. |
