Description In response to Element P-2 of the 1987 Puget Sound Water Quality Management Plan, the Washington Department of Ecology is developing regulatory standards for identifying and classifying contaminated sediments. Performance standards will be developed for reference areas (i.e., relatively uncontaminated areas) selected to provide data suitable for comparison with data on potentially contaminated sediments.
