Description The Puget Sound Water Quality Authority specified a series of activities to control sediment contamination in Puget Sound. These activities were set forth in the 1987 Puget Sound Water Quality Management Plan, revised in 1989. In response to Element P-2 of the Plan, the Department of Ecology is developing regulatory standards for identifying and designating sediments that have observable acute or chronic effects on biological resources or pose a significant health risk to humans.
