| Description | In response to Section 525 of the 1987 Clean Water Act, Ecology participated in a study of the Clark Fork - Pend Oreille River basin, along with the states of Idaho and Montana and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Study objectives were to characterize water quality problems, identify pollutant sources, and recommend actions for maintaining and enhancing water quality throughout the basin. Identified problems included nuisance algal growths in the Clark Fork River, nutrient loading in Lake Pend Oreille, and Eurasian milfoil proliferation in the Pend Oreille River.
