| Description | Legislative action in 1991 (RCW 43-21A.660) established the Freshwater Aquatic Weed Account to provide additional expertise on aquatic plant issues and a source of grant money for local aquatic plant management projects. The need for this program was recognized when the spread of aquatic plant problems in the state’s public waters outgrew the ability of agency officials to adequately address them. To provide technical expertise for aquatic plants, one full-time position was created within the Environmental Investigations and Laboratory Services Program of the Department of Ecology. This position was filled in February 1994. | ||||
