Description The goal of the Lake Chelan Water Quality Plan is to maintain the ultra-oligotrophic condition of the lake by keeping epilimnetic total phosphorus concentrations in the Wapato Basin of the lake below 4.5 ug/L. Water quality studies in the late 1980's led to a TMDL threshold of 4.5 ug/L total phosphorus. This protocol was developed to sample and analyze for trace levels of total phosphorus found in Lake Chelan for comparison to the TMDL threshold.
