Author(s) Johnson, A.
Description In an effort to determine if a chemical contaminant might be responsible for physical abnormalities observed during a 1992 tagging study on rainbow trout in lower Douglas Creek, water, sediment, and fish tissue samples were collected and analyzed for metals, pesticides, PCBs, and PBDEs. A fairly extensive series of chemical and biological analyses failed to identify a toxicant as being the cause of abnormalities in Douglas Creek rainbow trout. The level of chemical contamination in the creek appears very low. In light of this finding and the reported long-term stability of the trout population, further chemical investigation is not recommended at this time.
