Description Trophic classification of Washington lakes using reconnaissance data. Water Supply Bulletin 57 (1985) describes the physical, cultural, and water quality conditions for 134 lakes throughout Washington State. Each lake was indexed by trophic level using two methods: 1) a relative, multivariate technique based on secchi-disc transparency and concentrations of total phosphorus, total organic nitrogen, and chlorophyll-a in the epilimnion; and 2) an absolute univariate technique based on any one of three water quality parameters: secchi-disc transparency, total phosphorus concentration, or chlorophyll-a concentration.
