Description | Copper sampling of surface waters was conducted in 2012 as part of an ongoing monitoring program. In addition, a subset of four locations was selected to compare the Washington State water quality criteria and the Biotic Ligand Model (BLM). In general, copper concentrations were low. One sample from Brown Slough was above (did not meet) the marine water quality criteria. No other samples were above the Washington State or the BLM-recommended water quality criteria. A Wilcoxon Rank-Sum test showed a significant difference between the State criteria and the BLM-recommended criteria. Most of the samples were collected during dry periods. A year of sampling during dry and wet periods is needed to characterize copper in urban and agricultural areas. |
