Description Ecology is cleaning up soil contamination from the former Asarco smelter at Fort Nisqually in Tacoma January 2016. This cleanup is a part of the Soil Safety Program that provides soil sampling and cleanup for childcares and parks. The Fort will reopen in March 2016.
