Description | In 2016, the Washington Legislature directed Ecology, in coordination with DNR, to conduct a management review of the Dredged Material Management Program (DMMP) policies and procedures. The report focused on three primary areas; 1) how the DMMP operations, policies and decisions provide for dredging to maintain navigation and commerce, 2) determine what regulatory flexibility exists to allow dredging that is protective of human health and the environment, and 3) how DMMP’s process ensures regulatory flexibility is used and appropriate management and oversight is incorporated. The report findings are presented along with recommendations for short- and long-term implementation. | ||||||
