Description | Case study of a breakaway incident on December 14, 2001, when the T/V Overseas Washington was discharging cargo at the south wing of the dock at a facility on the eastern shore of the Strait of Georgia. A combination of wind and wave action parted the two after-spring lines and the Overseas Washington moved aft, damaging three loading arms. Because the vessel crew and terminal operator recognized the deterioration of the weather, the loading arms had been drained and no significant amount of oil was spilled. | ||||
