Description This two-page focus sheet discusses Ecology’s ongoing work to reduce sources of 6PPD, with a particular focus on finding safer alternatives to 6PPD for use in tires. We describe: 1) the relationship between tires, 6PPD, 6PPD-q, and toxicity to aquatic organisms; 2) our approach to finding safer alternatives to 6PPD, including funding research and convening interested parties to promote innovation; and 3) the alternatives assessment we will conduct to identify and compare potential alternatives.
