Description In principle, the land application of wastewater uses the physical, chemical and microbial properties of the soil and vegetation to remove contaminants from the applied wastewater. The upper soil-plant zone s used to stabilize, transform, or immobilize wastewater constituents and support crop growth, leading to an environmentally acceptable assimilation of the waste. When proper design principles are used, land application is a desirable method of wastewater treatment.
