Former Shell Oil Bulk Plant
Facility Site ID:

Cleanup Site ID:

Site History
Shell operated a bulk plant from about 1928 to 1975. Bulk plants store fuel. In this case, fuel was stored in six storage tanks above the ground. Shell also built a refueling and pumping station.
Fuels like gasoline, diesel, and other petroleum products were unloaded from oil barges and run through an underground pipeline to be stored in the tanks. After finding that the pipeline might have leaks, Shell switched to using tanker trucks to carry fuel from boats to the bulk plant. Now, the site is paved over and used for parking.
