US ARMY Camp Bonneville RAU-2B

RAU-2B consists of explosive chemical contamination at two open burning/demolition areas (open burning/demolition areas 2 & 3) where ammunitions were either burned or detonated.

For cleanup purposes, Camp Bonneville has been divided into five remedial action units (RAU). These units are primarily grouped by the nature of the particular release, not by physical boundaries. Click here for information about the full site and other RAUs.

Cleanup of RAU-2B is complete.

• In 1997, based on initial site investigations and archive searches, the Army identified releases and threatened releases of hazardous substances at Demolition Area 2 and Demolition Area 3, the two open burning/open demolition areas comprising RAU 2B.
• The Army completed soil and groundwater investigations in 2003, including installing monitoring wells.
• The Army completed a site investigation report in 2005, which concluded that no active cleanup was required at RAU 2B.
• In 2009, Ecology issued a “No Further Action” determination of RAU-2B.
