Cleanup Complete

Cleanup began in 1989 and primarily involved releases from the 14 underground storage tanks (USTs), floor drains, and drywells where contaminants accumulated during vehicle maintenance. Contaminants included petroleum, metals, volatile organic compounds, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

All USTs, floor drains, drywells, and approximately 85 tons of contaminated soil were excavated and disposed offsite, and follow-up samples were collected from all excavations. Five groundwater monitoring wells were installed in 2019 and 2020 and sampled quarterly until cleanup levels were met for all contaminants.

Voluntary Cleanup Program

This site was cleaned up under our Voluntary Cleanup Program, which provides technical help to owners of contaminated sites.

Voluntary Cleanup Program customers pay fees to cover our costs for technical help and reviewing cleanup reports. Sites in this program must meet the same cleanup standards as the sites Ecology manages under legal orders.
